Alstroemeria is now one of the core crops to come out of Colombia and like all our flowers, has been put through the mill, research wise, to make sure we only grown the best. The result? A range of Alstroemeria that are incredibly long, incredibly strong and available in some seriously funky colours
Take the amazingly deep purple Agropoli and mix it with Charmes, pure white with an edging of purple and you’ve a single variety vase to die for. If it’s oranges you’re after, then look no further than Beatrice, while in the pink selection you’ll be spoilt for choice with varieties like Odessa … soft and delicate or Rimini … cerise with a funky fleck.
How to Buy
Always buy Alstroemeria when the first bud has opened and the rest show good colour.
Never buy when the foliage is yellowing as this is a clear indication of premature ageing and the flowers won’t last.
Looking after them
With the right care, Colombian Alstroemeria will last 14 days or more.
Always cut the stems at a sharp angle and place in flower food treated water.
Remember to remove all the lower leaves so none sit in the water as this causes infection. |
