Where to buy Colombian Flowers

The granddaddy of all the Colombian flowers, there are now more than 325 different varieties of standard Carnations and a staggering 500 plus Spray Carnations on offer.
In our Standard range we’ve everything from the classic Red Nelson … a vibrant, feather edge red to the oh so gorgeous Vanessa Picotte … a stunning lilac bloom with droplet type flecks of purple. If you think it sounds wicked, wait till you see it in the flesh!
On the Spray Carnation front, the world is your oyster with amazing bi colour varieties like the delicate Arena …a positive confection of pink and white that’s perfect for wedding work to the luscious Andaluz … a warm rich peachy pink that looks divine.

Not only are there carnations to suit every colour theme, (the only colour we don’t grow yet is blue!) but they’re all produced to the highest standards as well.
All of which means that every Colombian carnation you buy is guaranteed to open, will last at least two weeks - and probably more - and will have a super strong stem as well so there’s no risk of breaking heads.

How to Buy
To get the best from your carnations, follow these easy buying tips:

Standard Carnations: These should have a strong, green calyx with no splitting and the top petals should be just opening out. Buy too tight and chances are they won’t open.

Spray Carnations: Colombian Spray Carnation come with around 5 – 7 buds and at least one bud should have burst to be sure the rest will follow.

Looking after them
Carnations are sensitive to ethylene so keep them away from fruit and high levels of exhaust emissions.
As soon as you get them home always cut them at a sharp angle and stand in flower food treated water
Never cut Carnations through the thick nodes, always between them as this will ensure best water take up.
When using Carnations in foam, chisel cut the ends to create a good grip.
